Overview: Riverfront Museum Park (RMP) is home to the Discovery Center Museum, Northern Public Radio / NIRIS, Rockford Art Museum, Rockford Dance Company and Rockford Symphony Orchestra. Riverfront Museum Park officially opened in February 1991, creating a unique unified space for arts and science organizations to focus on their core mission and outreach while RMP management focused on facility maintenance. The “under one roof” concept naturally began to generate collaborative programming between the member organizations. Riverfront Museum is open to the public 362 days a year!
General Description: Visitor Services Staff (VS) are scheduled to be on duty at Riverfront Museum Park during the hours when the building is open, when RMP management office is closed. While on duty, the responsibilities for VS includes maintaining a safe and secure environment for all visitors and staff in our building and grounds. VS is responsible for securing the building which includes opening and locking up the building, and activating the security system at the end of each day.
VS is the first impression our visitors have of Riverfront Museum Park, whether by phone or in person. Strong customer service skills are essential to greet and direct visitors, respond to service and security issues and other general questions or concerns as appropriate. Communication is vital in this position. VS reports directly and communicates all activities / events to RMP Management as part of a shift report. The VS position requires a mature individual that has the ability to handle emergency situations in calm and professional manner.
The part time Visitor Services general hours of work are scheduled on Monday through Wednesday, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and on Sunday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Schedule may be adjusted when there are special events scheduled. The VS station is located in the loggia.

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Most of the specific training occurs on the job. Use of a computer is necessary so applicant must be skillful in Outlook, Google Calendar and Office. First Aid, CPR and AED training is a plus.
Wages: range: $9-$10 per hour depending on experience
